June 12th, 2009
Thank you for including me!
Ha!, who would have thought a year ago that I would be on a list of fitness females? I had just turned 50, weighed 230 pounds, rarely exercised, and hated cooking real food.
Now I’m someone who makes it to CrossFit regularly (still have to scale back those exercises, but I’m doing them!), eats real food, and has lost about 70 pounds. What a difference a year can make.
June 12th, 2009
I also want to say that this list is great. I’m checking out everyone on Twitter. I love to see what other women are doing for fitness.
June 12th, 2009

Hi Dave,
)
Great list! I love reading about what other trainers and instructors are doing in fitness and wellness, it’s a great way to keep learning about what works for our clients (and ourselves)! I’m a swim coach, personal trainer and Pilates teacher from northern CA; I train athletes and post rehab clients with a particular emphasis on good mechanics (I studied Kinesiology at another Big Ten school, the University of Michigan). My first swim coach — who coached swimmers that went on to become world class athletes — was my first and greatest inspiration. She emphasized proper form as the basis for any exercise and it is a pleasure to say that all of my clients carry with them the legacy of those lessons I learned as a child. And as another shameless promo, I think this list needs a swim coach/trainer!
June 12th, 2009
Thanks so much for the shout-out, David! You sure know how to attract women, LOL! And what an inspiring group, some of whom I already “know” and others I want to get to know. I feel very honored!

Wow – even more than the men – good list!
June 15th, 2009
I’d like to check these out, but I have yet to jump on the twitter bandwagon.
At the risk of me being intellectually lazy and not taking the time to find out on my own, does twitter offer any substantive advantage over other mediums? From what I’ve seen it appeared to consist of frequent inconsequential updates.
It seems to be taking off though, so apparently I’m missing something?
June 15th, 2009
Chris – Micro-blogging is a pretty accurate description of the network. Great way to discover people with a passion for fitness. Plus it’s fun to read everyone’s updates and interact with intriguing random people.
I’ve also noticed it improved my blogging skills as far as being more concise and effective in my writing since you’re restricted to 140 characters. Definitely worth it to hop on the Twitter Bandwagon.
June 16th, 2009
